As the first point of contact, the dental receptionist should be personable, friendly and welcoming to patients, many of whom, especially children, could be quite anxious or in pain. The receptionist is also responsible for taking telephone calls and making appointments. GCSEs are required qualifications and training is usually provided on the job; team working and good communication skills are pre-requisite employee qualities.
